Park Tower (formerly known as the Lykes Building) is a skyscraper located in downtown Tampa, Florida. It is the second-oldest high-rise building in the current Tampa skyline. When the building was finished in November 1973, it was the tallest in Tampa, and the third-tallest in all of Florida, at 460 feet (36 stories). It was the tallest building in Tampa until One Tampa City Center was built in 1981. [ [http://tampacitycenter.com/ Tampa City Center - Downtown Tampa's Premier Office Building ] ]

Description

The Lykes Building was the headquarters of the Lykes Brothers Corporation. The tower was bought out by Sterling American Property of New York City for $27.4 million in 2006. The building is now the downtown Tampa headquarters for Colonial Bank, with its sign featured clearly on the top of the building.

After buying the building, Sterling announced a multi-million dollar restoration to Park Tower, which hadn't received an overhaul in the thirty-three years it was in use. Within the next two years, Park Tower will receive new air conditioning units and faster elevator transport, among other fixes.
