Church of England school had been open for over 15 years in West Green, when theLocal Education Authority first set up a temporary maintained school in1951 as part of the development ofCrawley New town . infant school , with ajunior school opening in 1953 in the same building. It began to accept upwards of 60 pupils per year. However, in1985 , when re-organisation of education provision in the west of the town took place, the school's junior department was closed. The school remained as a first school taking children between the ages of 5 and 8. At the end of this phase, pupils transferred to the newly-opened Ifield Middle School.In
2004 , Crawley schools were again reorganised. Initial proposals were to close the school, with pupils all transferring to Northgate Primary School. However, following local action, the authority reviewed its plans. The school was retained as aprimary school with a single form of entry.
