- GER Class T19 Rebuilt
The GER Class T19 Rebuilt was a class of
2-4-0 steamtender locomotive s designed by James Holden for theGreat Eastern Railway . They were rebuilt from theGER Class T19 with larger boilers. Confusingly, the name "GER Class T19 Rebuilt" was also applied to some other T19s which had been rebuilt with both a larger boiler and a4-4-0 wheel arrangement. All the 2-4-0s had been withdrawn by 1920 so only the 4-4-0s passed to theLondon and North Eastern Railway in 1923 and these becameLNER Class D13 .Overview
No 769 and twenty others were fitted with convert|4|ft|9|in|m|abbr=on diameter
Belpaire boiler s. This increased thegrate area from 18 to convert|21.6|sqft|m2|abbr=on; the total heating surface from 1230 to convert|1476|sqft|m2|abbr=on and theboiler pressure was raised to 180psi. The ungainly appearance led to the nickname "Humpty Dumpty", but no official name has yet been found. All had been withdrawn by 1920.
