Sore throat (spoken word and music)

Originally an online radio show on the short lived but well loved space.fm in east london, Sore Throat has produced live and recorded music, the written and spoken word for the last two to three years.

Sore Throat is Mike Benson (writing and vocals) and Will Flisk (music)

Mike Benson is a Scottish exile living in London writing stories, poems and lyrics both alone and in collaboration with a variety of artists. He has written stories, poems and a film script with Howie B to accompany three of his albums, published a short book called Battery Acid Kiss (Pussyfoot Press), collaborated on ‘Faulty’, a book of words and pictures, produced ‘Poetic Soles’ with stride shoes (poems imprinted on shoe soles and boxes) and his story, ‘Room Full of Angels’ appeared in the internationally acclaimed anthology, Disco Biscuits.

He has performed live in bars, clubs and theatres throughout the UK, across Europe and in North America, including the Crossing Borders Festival in the hague, Holland and the national theatres of Great Britain and Canada.

Will Flisk has been entertaining weekend clubbers around East London for the past three years with his frighteningly popular Moulin-X night. he has produced a series of tracks for the critically acclaimed Comfort Zone Compilations.

In 2005 sore throat have teamed up with legendary soul jazz singer David Mcalmont to perform a series of critically acclaimed gigs in some of London’s finest venues. an EP is in production as is a short book of writing to read out loud.
