Joe Posnanski (nicknamed "Poz" and "Joe Po") is an American journalist and columnist for "
The Kansas City Star ." He has worked at the "Star" since October 1996. He is currently working on a book about theBig Red Machine .Thanks to his wit, observational humor and interest in both the human and analytical side of the game, many consider him one of the finest baseball writers working in the mainstream media. In 2003 and 2005, Posnanski was named the best sports
columnist in America by theAssociated Press Sports Editors. Posnanski has won many other awards including theMissouri Press Association award for best sports columnist in Missouri ten times, and he was the first recipient of theJoe McGuff journalism award, presented by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission.He and his wife, Margo, live in Kansas City. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Katie.
In October 2007 he debuted his new website at www.joeposnanski.com. His wife also blogs on the site.
