Joe Posnanski

Joe Posnanski (nicknamed "Poz" and "Joe Po") is an American journalist and columnist for "The Kansas City Star." He has worked at the "Star" since October 1996. A selection of his columns about the magic of sports is compiled in the book, "The Good Stuff" [ [http://www.thekansascitystore.com/ProductDetail.cfm?PID=257 "The Good Stuff" on KansasCity.com (Kansas City Star's website)] ] . His book "The Soul of Baseball: A Road Trip Through Buck O'Neil's America" [ [http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0060854030 "The Soul of Baseball" on Amazon.com] ] was published by William Morrow & Company and won the Casey Award as best baseball book of 2007. He is currently working on a book about the Big Red Machine.

Thanks to his wit, observational humor and interest in both the human and analytical side of the game, many consider him one of the finest baseball writers working in the mainstream media. In 2003 and 2005, Posnanski was named the best sports columnist in America by the Associated Press Sports Editors. Posnanski has won many other awards including the Missouri Press Association award for best sports columnist in Missouri ten times, and he was the first recipient of the Joe McGuff journalism award, presented by the Greater Kansas City Sports Commission.

He and his wife, Margo, live in Kansas City. They have two daughters, Elizabeth and Katie.

In October 2007 he debuted his new website at www.joeposnanski.com. His wife also blogs on the site.
