2000 UEFA Champions League Final

2000 UEFA Champions League Final

The 2000 UEFA Champions League Final took place at Stade de France in Paris, France on May 24, 2000. The match pitted Spanish giants' Real Madrid and Valencia. It was the first time since the advent of the European Cup/UEFA Champions League in 1955 that two clubs from the same country competed in the final.

Goals from Fernando Morientes and Steve McManaman put Real Madrid 2 – 0 ahead, before Raúl put away the match with a spectacular third goal, scored from almost no angle after running 70 metres across the pitch. The win was Madrid's eighth championship overall and their second in three years.
