It is located in the mountains. The 2001 population was 121 for the village and 146 for the municipal district. The elevation is approximately 750 metres (2,461 ft), and is located near the Tourla rapids. Chryso is located 53 kilometres (33 mi) NW of Karpenisi, SW of Lamia and north of the border with Aetolia-Acarnania.

Information
The main industry is olive productions. Due to the many springs, this supplied the village for many centuries. Chryso was struck by an earthquake in 1966 which destroyed many of its buildings. the village was rebuilt later.
The only attractions are a spring and the stone-built bridges of the 15th century. The bridges are located near the length of a small river called Chrysiotis (Greek: Χρυσιώτης)

Chryso has a school, churches, and a square (plateia). The nearest lyceum (middle school) and secondary school (high school) are in Viniani.
