Interstate • U.S. • N.Y. (former) • Reference • County (Suffolk)← CR 93 CR 95 → Suffolk County Road 94 is a county-maintained segment of New York State Route 24 between Calverton, and Riverhead, New York. It runs from the Long Island Expressway at exit 71 and the traffic circle at Suffolk County Road 104. Although it's signed as a north–south road, it actually runs east to west.
With the construction of Suffolk CR 94, the gap between the broken ends of NY 24 was reduced. Prior to this, NY 24 took a right turn at former New York State Route 113, where it would overlap until reaching New York State Route 25.
Suffolk County Road 94 begins at in incomplete diamond interchange with Interstate 495 in Calverton, then curves from south to east where it intersects with the northern end of Toppings Path, then a relocated intersection with South River Road. One other populated area exists at the intersection with Pinehurst Boulevard, but the rest of the surrounding area consists largely of land preserved by Suffolk County and New York State. A rest area existed on both sides of the road at the Brookhaven-Southhampton Town Line, until the late-1980's, when it was closed after complaints of them being misused by people for homosexual trysts, and drug use.
A proposed highway known as Suffolk County Road 103(Cedar Swamp Road) was to cross over NY 24-Suffolk CR 94 and then head towards either Suffolk CR 58(Old Country Road) or the proposed north fork extension of the Long Island Expressway.
As the road approaches Suffolk County's government buildings in Riverhead, it doubles as Center Drive. The median widens for U-Turns near the intersections of Suffolk CR 94A, and Suffolk CR 51. Though neither of these intersections are true traffic circles, they function in a similar manner. Suffolk County Road 94 ends at a genuine traffic circle at Suffolk County Roads 104(former NY 113) and 63. NY 24 continues southeast towards Hampton Bays, although some road maps show the NY 24-SCR 94 concurrency continuing southeastward toward Flanders. In reality, the Suffolk County Planning Department had a much more elaborate extension proposed, and it wasn't in Riverhead.

Northwest to Wading River
The extension was to replace Edwards Avenue crossing the Peconic River, North River Road and the Main Line of the Long Island Rail Road, until breaking away to the west of Edwards Avenue. Suffolk CR 94 was to cross New York State Route 25 at an interchange between Fresh Pond Road and Edwards Avenue. Suffolk CR 94 would've then curved northwest and then crossed Fresh Pond Road itself. After an interchange with Suffolk County Road 54(Hulse Landing Road) it was to replace part of Sound Avenue until terminating at New York State Route 25A.[1][2]
Suffolk County Road 94A
The most westerly traffic circle along Suffolk County Road 94 is for Suffolk County Road 94A, better known as Center Drive Spur. It's a four-lane highway that crosses the Peconic River and ends at the intersection of West Main Street(NY 25) and Court Street.
Both the Nugent Drive Extension, and Center Drive Spur were intended to be a realigned segment of New York State Route 25A. NY 25A was to overlap NY 24 between the Long Island Expressway and Center Drive Spur.[3]
