(1991)"One Step Ahead" (Atlantic 87677; Atlantic UK A7677; Atlantic Japan AMDY-5054) is the fourth single from the 1990 album Anything Is Possible (LP 82167) by American singer-songwriter-actress Deborah Gibson. The LP Version (4:52) was co-written with Lamont Dozier and co-produced with John "Jellybean" Benitez. This song was remixed for both the single and maxi single by "Little" Louie Vega and Kenny "Dope" Gonzales for Masters At Work Productions, Inc., rendering the Hot Radio Mix (4:18) for 87677, A7677 and AMDY-5054, and at least the Masters At Work Mix (5:50) for 86025.
Although this single failed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, it scored on the Billboard Hot Maxi Singles and Hot Dance chart, peaking at #21 and #18 respectively.
