It saw the emergence of former expansion team Swift Mighty Meaty as a champion squad after it won its first PBA title in the Third Conference. Swift import Tony Harris also broke scoring records when he scored 105 points in a single game during the league's out-of-town game in Iloilo City. This was also Presto Ice Cream's last PBA season.
