Naval Air Station Kaneohe Bay in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii was a primary target in the attack on Pearl Harbor. It was attacked seven minutes ahead of Pearl Harbor and again an hour later in order to obtain air superiority for the Japanese. Hangar #1 and the seaplane ramps survived the attacks and are still extant today. [ [http://www.nr.nps.gov/writeups/87001299.nl.pdf NHL Summary] ] The facility was repurposed to the United States Marine Corps in 1951 and renamed to Marine Corps Base Hawaii.
