Gresham High School is a high school located in Gresham, Oregon. As of 2006, the school serves 1,789 students [http://www.oregonlive.com/highschool/team/?255] in grades 9 through 12, along with 150 staff members. It opened in 1906. The school's mascot is the Gopher, and the school colors are blue, silver, and white. The school's principal is Carol Daiberl. The three vice-principals are Ayesha Freeman, Kristin Mayville and Lonnie Wells [http://www.gresham.k12.or.us/school_pages/GHS_factsheet.html] . The high school is fed by two local middle schools, Dexter McCarty Middle School and Clear Creek Middle School, both of which serve grades 6-8. Gresham's main athletic rival is nearby Sam Barlow High School.

Gresham High is an official IB (International Baccalaureate) World School offering the IB Diploma Program [http://www.ibo.org/school/search/index.cfm?programmes=DIPLOMA&country=US&region=OR&find_schools=Find] . This challenging two-year program for juniors and seniors is generally supported by prerequisite classes in freshman and sophomore year. Students with a full IB diploma can get advanced placement and up to one full year college credit. Students who successfully earn an IB diploma are highly regarded by colleges and universities worldwide.

Gresham High School also offers Woods, Mechanical, and Technology classes in a program called ProTech.

Publications

Gresham High School produces two newspapers: The Gresham Argus [http://ghs.gresham.k12.or.us/argus/index.html] and The Gopher Gazette [http://www.gresham.k12.or.us/~duquette2/The%20Gopher%20Gazette/Gopher%20Gazette%20Homepage.html] . The newspapers are produced by separate staffs and are budgeted by their own advertising efforts. The newspapers have different audiences as well. The Gresham Argus gets delivered to students in class on the day the paper comes out, and the Gopher Gazette gets distributed via postal mail to parents of students and businesses in the community.

Notable Achievements

Since the start of the new millennium, the Gresham High School Girls Volleyball team has won the state championship in 2001, 2002, and 2006.

Gresham High School is also locally known for its theater and choir programs, both of which have produced several state champions in Monologue and Duo acting scenes, as well as musical theater pieces. The Gresham High School Band and Choir programs have also produced several state champions.
