Gibbonsdown

Gibbonsdown, often locally known colloquially as 'Gibby', is a housing estate situated in the north east area of the town of Barry in The Vale of Glamorgan, Wales.

Whilst the area has been known for its problems, its also known for a good community spirit and as a place that is always looking to improve itself. Some of the notable successes of the area include the Holm View Community Leisure Centre, the Gibbonsdown Children Centre and also what used to be known as Gibbonsdown Junior School has been rebuilt and renamed Oakfield Primary School.

Over the years the area has picked up a bad reputation for drugs -relatedFact|date=November 2007 vandalism and petty crime, Things like this still happen in the area.

Notable roads include Treharne Road (known to locals as "The Treharne"), Robins Lane and Skomer Road which connects the area to Wenvoe.
