Canoga Park in theSan Fernando Valley of Los Angeles,California ,USA , within theLos Angeles Unified School District . It is located right across the street from the Topanga Plaza shopping center. TheLos Angeles River 's formal starting point is on the east side of the campus behind the stadium.The school opened October 4, 1914, as Owensmouth High School, making it the oldest high school in the west San Fernando Valley. The school's name was changed in 1931, after the community of Owensmouth changed its name to Canoga Park. Among the school's features are a Coast Redwood Grove planted in 1936 just north of the football field.
The school has an agriculture/environmental/veterinary science magnet program, which was established in 1996. It also has a one and a half acre farm at the school, which commonly houses sheep, pigs, goats, rabbits, and cattle. Canoga Park High School also has an active chapter of the National FFA Organization (more commonly known as FFA).
The school colors are green and white and the teams are called the Hunters.
The school serves several areas, including Canoga Park and portions of Winnetka and West Hills.
