Michael Thau is a
film editor and preservationist who is most notable for recent restoration and production work on theChristopher Reeve Superman films, "" and "Superman II ".Family
He is the son of Ben Thau, one of the "college of cardinals" executives that worked in the background for Louis B. Mayer during MGM's glory years. Ben Thau was vice president of talent at the studio from the mid-1930s until the early 1960s.

Michael Thau oversaw the development of the "Superman" DVD release in
2001 , editing the special edition cut of the film. He also directed, produced and edited the three documentaries on that DVD, "Taking Flight: The Development of 'Superman"', "Making 'Superman': Filming the Legend" and "The Magic Behind the Cape".Thau has worked with "Superman" director
Richard Donner in many capacities and on many films, starting with "The Toy " in 1982. In 2006, he completed work on the long-awaited "". Thau produced the new version and edited the new material.External links
