The Technik Museum Speyer is a
museum inSpeyer (Rhineland-Palatinate ),Germany [Kursbuch208] .The museum was opened in 1991 as a daughter of the
Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum and is run by a registered alliance called "Auto & Technik Museum Sinsheim e.V.".As of 2004 , it has more than 2,000 exhibits and an exhibition area of more than 150,000 m² (indoors and outdoors). It pulls more than half a million visitors per year. Additionally to the exhibitions, the museum also sports a 22m x 27m giantIMAX Dome theatre.Walk-in exhibitions
In spring 2002,
Lufthansa donated a retiredBoeing 747 aircraft to the museum which is now accessible to the visitors. In April 2008, a Russian Buran spacecraft was transported to the Technikmuseum where it will be another walk-in exhibition. Other highlights are the houseboat Sean o'Kelley of theKelly Family or the submarine U9 of theGerman Navy .
