Srinivaspur is a panchayat town in Kolar district in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Geography

Etymology

the name Srinivaspur is coined out of the Lord Sri, the Vishnu... There is a belief that this town was once crossed by Lord Sri, he stayed here for some time so the name srinivasapur meaning the place 'Sri' lived. the basic name for this town was papanapalli, a small village. the remenent village culture of the papanapalli can be seen in the pathapeta, an area to the south of the town.
