- Rosmonda d'Inghilterra
"Rosmonda d'Inghilterra" ("Rosamund of England") is a "
melodramma" or operain two acts by Gaetano Donizetti. The Italian librettowas written by Felice Romanioriginally for Coccia's "Rosmunda" (1829). It is based on the legend of Rosamund Clifford("The Fair Rosamund").
It premiered at the
Teatro della Pergola, Florenceon February 27, 1834and was revived only in Livornoin 1845. The opera was revised as "Eleonora di Gujenna" for Naplesin 1837. It was largely forgotten until its English rediscovery in 1975when a concert performance was given at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Londonwith Yvonne Kennyin the title role.
