Lingsugur is a panchayat town in Raichur district in the Indian state of Karnataka.

Geography

Lingsugur is located at coord|16.17|N|76.52|E| [ [http://www.fallingrain.com/world/IN/19/Lingsugur.html Falling Rain Genomics, Inc - Lingsugur] ] . It has an average elevation of 499 metres (1637 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census [GR|India] , Lingsugur had a population of 27,301. Males constitute 51% of the population and females 49%. Lingsugur has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 65%, and female literacy is 45%. In Lingsugur, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
