Hasanpur is a city and a municipal board in Jyotiba Phule Nagar district in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

History

The town derives its name from Hasan Khan,who founded it in 1634 AD.( Imperial Gazetteer2 of India.)

Geography

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, [GR|India] Hasanpur had a population of 53,340. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Hasanpur has an average literacy rate of 43%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 49%, and female literacy is 37%. In Hasanpur, 18% of the population is under 6 years of age.

It is interesting that in 1901 its population was 9,579 only.
