He is currently a staff writer at "Blender"; prior to that, he was a contributing editor at "Rolling Stone ", where (in addition to writing music reviews and profile stories) he wrote the "Pop Life" column. His work has also been featured in "The Village Voice ". A native ofBoston , Sheffield attendedYale and theUniversity of Virginia , and is six foot five.His first book, "" (an excerpt of which was featured in the January 2007 issue of "GQ"), was released by
Random House in January 2007. It received starred reviews in "Publishers Weekly " and "Library Journal ".Most of "Love is a Mix Tape" takes place in
Charlottesville, Virginia , where Sheffield met and married his late wife Renée Crist, a fellow DJ at radio stationWTJU , and continues inNew York City after Crist's death in 1997. The couple had no children.Sheffield remarried in 2006 and lives in
