Name

According to a Mik'Maq legend, Glooscap was a giant god-like Bear who was created by Gisoolg (the Great Tree) and lived on the high cliffs of Mount Everest, overlooking the Bay of Fundy.

The legend credits Glooscap with creating the fire pit on the reserve. This fire pit was formed from His dead body after the natives killed him (the beaver's dam had flooded Glooscap's garden). Glooscap smashed the beaver's dam and allowed the water to flow freely, creating the Bay of Fundy tides.
