Ahsan Habib (cartoonist)

Ahsan Habib is a Bangladeshi cartoonist, writer and editor of Unmad, the popular satire magazine.

Family

His father, a police officer, Foyzur Rahman was murdered by the Pakistani army during the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971. Elder brother Humayun Ahmed is the living legend, most popular writer of Bangla Language. Brother Muhammed Zafar Iqbal is also a very popular writer.

Childhood

Ahsan Habib studied in more than eight schools. His childhood was spent in Jagdal, Panchagarh, Rangamati, Bandarban, Chittagong, Bogra, Comilla and Pirojpur.

Career

After taking a master degree from the University of Dhaka in Geography, he started career as a cartoonist and writer. He edits `Unmad', the legendary satyr magazine running from last three decades. He was the editor of first Bangla science fiction magazine, `Moulik'. `Autoline', `Ghuddi' etc are also edited by him.

As a cartoonist, Ahsan Habib designed many covers. Satiric articles are written by him from many years.

He was also the bringer of `sher', one short of witty 3/4 lined satiric poem, mainly found in the Indian Subcontinent.
