"Jet" was a hit song from Paul McCartney and Wings' "Band on the Run" album. The song peaked at #7 in both the UK and U.S. charts on March 30th, 1974. Along with "Helen Wheels" and "Junior's Farm", it is another McCartney song where his primary inspiration for composing the song arose in daily life. [Rees, Dafydd and Luke Crampton (1991). When first released, the single's B-side was Mamunia, another track from the Band on the Run album. However, it was soon replaced with Let Me Roll It.

The song is about McCartney's black pet horse called Jet but there are claims it may also be about a black Labrador he had, also called Jet.Fact|date=February 2008

The song spawned the name of Australian rock band Jet. It was also covered in concert by power-pop band Jellyfish, who introduced it as "arguably the sexiest song ever written". Their version is available on a limited edition disc of their debut album Bellybutton

It was used in the first episode of "I'm Alan Partridge", where Alan jumps off his bed and gives himself a black eye. The song was covered by British rock band Kaiser Chiefs during their performance with James Bond composer David Arnold at the BBC Electric Proms on Friday 26th October 2007 at the Camden Roundhouse.
