WIUP-TV is the university television station for the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. The station serves the counties of Armstrong, Blair, Indiana, Cambria, and Westmoreland in Pennsylvania. WIUP airs programs aimed at college students, various IUP sports as well as high school football and basketball games, as well as a video marquee, which runs nearly every hour during the day.

WIUP signed on the air in 1975, operating on Channel 9 as a cable-only station on Adelphia cable. Identified as CIUP-TV (meaning Cable Indiana University of Pennsylvania). In 1999, when Adelphia added Shop at Home on Channel 16, WIUP decided to move WIUP to channel 20 on cable. In 2004, Atlantic Broadband added WIUP-TV to its cable lineup. In 2006, Adelphia became Comcast for the region. Although rumors say, that the station may remain on channel 20. However, the station will remain on channel 20.

WIUP-Plus

WIUP was supposed introduce digital cable channel called WIUP-Plus. This channel was to feature syndicated shows (not seen on other local stations), children's programming, as well as reruns of classic "Nova" episodes. However, the deal fell through.

My Indiana?

In 2006, WIUP-TV was announced as the new local affiliate of MyNetworkTV, which is owned by Fox. The station was to be managed by WPMY, the MNTV affiliate in Pittsburgh. But the deal fell through in the late summer. MNTV has since signed up another area station, WHVL-LP, as the affiliate.
