Dr John Maddicott has published works on the political and social history of England in the thirteenth and fourteenth century, and on Anglo-Saxon history. He has written a biography of
Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester . InHilary term 2004, he delivered theFord Lectures , the most prestigious history lectures inOxford University , on the topic of the genesis of the English Parliament. He was a tutor in History atExeter College, Oxford before retiring in 2006.elected publications
