Richard Green (cricketer)

Richard James Green (born 13 March 1976) is a former English cricketer who played 31 matches for Lancashire between 1995 and 2000 and won the coveted NBC Denis Compton Award, which is given to the most promising young player at each of the 18 English first-class counties, in 1996. On 26 May 2006, his then girlfriend Katie Greenwood agreed to a ménage à trois if his web site received 5,000,000 hits by the end of the year, [ [http://www.lse.co.uk/ShowStory.asp?story=XU1126058P&news_headline=cricketers_girl_web_threesome_pledge Cricketer's Girl Web Threesome Pledge - UK News Headlines ] ] a figure which was very quickly surpassed. During 2006 they eventually gained a worldwide following as a result of this, with a great deal of media coverage. The event was filmed and afterwards was made available through a 45-minute Internet stream, with viewers from across the globe.

Despite the threesome apparently being a success, with all participants seeming to be happy about what had taken place, a short time afterwards the relationship between Katie and Richard became strained, due to extreme jealousy on his part. During the encounter it became obvious she was very much attracted to Holly (the selected participant), a feeling that was equally reciprocated, which turned out to prove too much for him to handle in the long run. In a newspaper interview he said, "As soon as we'd had the threesome I knew it was a mistake. I just couldn't trust her any more." [http://www.hindustantimes.com/news/7242_1793243,00180007.htm] This ultimately led to their split, where she turned to Holly for emotional support. She told the News of the World newspaper, "Afterwards he (Richard) became a nightmare. I couldn't even go to the shop without him following, thinking I was seeing someone. I turned to Holly as a friend to get me through a difficult patch and things progressed from there."
