28 February operation

The 28 February operation in Turkey was the military overthrowing of the coalition government led by Necmettin Erbakan of the Welfare Party on February 28, 1997.

Instead of dissolving the parliament or withdrawing the constitution, the Turkish Military pressured Erbakan to step down. [cite news|url=http://washingtontimes.com/news/2005/jun/25/20050625-104911-8659r/
