Paris Métro , named after the district of "Picpus" and the "Boulevard de Picpus".About 1575, the "Rue de Picpus" was a road crossing the area of "Pique-Puce" (flea prick). The Lazare brothers thought that the origin of the name came from an epidemic producing sores resembling insect bites. It was treated miraculously by a monk who settled in the village. He therefore took the name of Pique-Puce (?).
The station has the additional name of Courteline, named after
Georges Courteline (1858-1929), whose real name was George Moinaux. He was a French author of satirical comedies such as: Les "Gaietés de l'escadron", "la Paix chez soi", "Le Commissaire est bon enfant".The station is located under the Avenue de Saint-Mandé, to the west of the crossroads with the "Boulevard de Picpus".
There is only one access, located on the southern side of the Avenue de Saint-Mandé .
