Lower caption = "Sing for Absolution" is a song by Muse from their third studio album, "Absolution". It was released in May 2004 as the fourth single from that album, peaking at #16 in theUK Singles Chart (see2004 in British music ). The song also appears on the "Absolution Tour " DVD. A live acoustic version of the song serves as a B-side for the "Butterflies and Hurricanes " single. Usually it is played live with the guitars tuned half a step down.Video
This video was produced by ARK of Sheffield, UK and released in May 2004. It depicts a populated civilised planet, probably a "New Earth" on which humans have settled. Muse are on a rocket heading into space. Along the way, they pass through galaxies and media boards saying "the ice age is coming". Muse's rocket docks into a 'Cryo Module' which in the video reveals that it is a place where hundreds of people are frozen in cryogenic stasis, and that it could be speculated that Muse's mission is the populate the planet they are travelling to. The rocket collides with an asteroid and crashes on an orange desolate planet, speculated to be
Earth in the distant future. As the camera zooms out, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben inLondon can be seen as ruins.Track listing
