Shaun Lopez

Shaun Lopez

Shaun Lopez is a US musician and was the guitarist for Far, a band from Sacramento, U.S., spawned from the same local scene as the Deftones, their former touring partners, as well as Tinfed and Will Haven.

After a number of local releases including their first demo tape "Sweat A River, Live No Lies" and two independent albums "Listening Game" and "Quick" they signed to Epic/Immortal Records and released their first major record, "Tin Cans With Strings To You".

Their second album, "Water & Solutions", was released in 1998 and thanks to the single "Mother Mary" they attracted a cult following. The more melodic sound showcased on this album is increasingly cited as an influence on present-day emo rock bands by the rock press, ie: Thursday, Biffy Clyro, Jimmy Eat World. Certainly it was a departure from their earlier, much more hardcore sound (although it is still far from the emo-pop that it would quickly come to inspire).

Since their 1999 split, Shaun briefly played in an early version of Rival Schools headed by former Quicksand frontman, Walter Schreifels. Then Shaun picked up the microphone and formed his own band, The Revolution Smile which, after putting out the self produced ep "At War With Plastic", and self produced full length "We Are In This Alone", was signed to Geffen Records. In 2003 they released "Above The Noise", produced by Dave Sardy (who also produced Far's "Water & Solutions") and Shaun, and mixed by Andy Wallace. They toured across the US and Europe and were featured on Ozzfest and Van's Warped Tour. They have recently finished another self produced album titled "Summer Ever" which is slated for a September 2006 release.

Although still involved in The Revolution Smile, Shaun is now producing other bands such as Giant Drag, The X-Ecutioners, and Deftones.
