- George Walden
George Gordon Harvey Walden (born
15 September 1939 ) is a journalist and former British Conservativepolitician . He was educated atLatymer Upper School in Hammersmith, London, and atJesus College, Cambridge and also spent periods inMoscow , Hong Kong andHarvard universities, as well as theEcole Nationale d'Administration in Paris.Walden worked for the
British Foreign Office between 1962 and 1983, where he specialized in Russia, China and France. He was elected MP for Buckingham between 1983 and his retirement at the 1997 general election. He served as Minister for Higher Education between 1985 and 1987. His memoirs, entitled "Lucky George", were published in 1999. His other books include "Time to Emigrate", "New Elites: A Career in the Masses", "Who is a Dandy" and "God won't save America".External links
