He married Anne Hastings, daughter of William Hastings, 1st Baron Hastings and Katherine Neville. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Neville, 5th Earl of Salisbury and Alice Neville, 5th Countess of Salisbury. They had 11 children:

Talbot fought for Henry VII of England at the Battle of Stoke.

George Talbot had Sheffield Manor built in 1516 to serve as a country retreat. Thomas Cardinal Wolsey stayed here as Talbot's guest on his way to face trial for treason in 1530. In 1520 he had a chapel added to the parish church at Sheffield to serve as a family chapel with a burial vault below. A monument to Talbot and his two wives can still be seen in the church (now Sheffield Cathedral).
