August 22 ,1890 inMilwaukee ,Wisconsin , USA -October 15 ,1978 inLos Altos ,California , USA) was professor ofsocial psychology andpolitical psychology atSyracuse University 's Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs (in Syracuse, New York, USA) from 1924 until 1956, and visiting professor atUniversity of California , Berkeley. He is considered the founder of social psychology as a scientific discipline.Allport received his AB and Ph.D. degrees fromHarvard University in 1913 and 1919 respectively. At Harvard, Allport wasHerbert S. Langfeld 's teaching assistant.Floyd Henry Allport was the brother of psychologist Gordon Willard Allport.Main works:
