"Kiss Me" is a song recorded by Sixpence None the Richer and released on the 1997 album "Sixpence None the Richer". It reached number two on the U.S. Hot 100 and number four on both the UK Singles Chart and the Canadian Singles Chart, making it the group's highest-charting single across the world.

A year after the release of the album "Sixpence None the Richer", the teen movie "She's All That" and the popular teen soap "Dawson's Creek" played "Kiss Me" (with tie-in videos), which went on to be a hit single off the album and the band's most recognizable song.

The song was released as a single in 1999, propelling Sixpence into the US pop spotlight. The Grammy-nominated song became a top airplay hit in over 10 countries including Canada, the UK, Japan (later, the band re-recorded "Kiss Me" in Japanese), Israel and Australia.

Matt Slocum wrote the song for his wife, although, it is performed by a female singer.

Video

The original music video pays tribute to French filmmaker François Truffaut and his film "Jules et Jim", made in black and white and recreating many of the classic scenes from the film. An alternate version of the video was also released later, which featured the band sitting on a park bench, performing and watching scenes from "She's All That" or "Dawson's Creek" on a portable television or projected on an outdoor screen.

The Dawson's Creek version of the video became VH1's number-one video for the entire month of May, 1999.

* "Kiss Me" has been featured in a number of motion pictures ("She's All That", "Not Another Teen Movie" - during a scene that parodied its use in "She's All That", "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days", "Be Cool"), "Practical Magic" and TV shows ("Dawson's Creek", "Saturday Night Live", MTV's "The Real World", "The Young and the Restless", "Days of Our Lives", "7th Heaven", "Daria" in Episode 304, "Daria Dance Party" at the dance, Verliebt in Berlin in final of the season 1 for the wedding of Lisa and many other TV shows).
* In June 1999, "Kiss Me" was featured during the BBC's worldwide broadcast of Prince Edward's wedding ceremonies, at the request of Britain's royal family.
* A heavily accented cover of the song performed by Filipino actress Alyssa Alano on a GMA Network program became an internet meme in the country after a parody was posted on YouTube containing mondegreens such as "Keys Me".
* On the fourth season of Canadian Idol, Steffi DiDomenicantonio performed the song during the top 14 week.
* An instrumental version of the song (with the lyrical riffs being hummed and/or replaced with the words "la la") has been featured in commercials for Frito-Lay's Sun Chips.

The song has been covered by Adam Levine, Lava Lava on their album "Tour Demo", and New Found Glory on their album "From the Screen to Your Stereo Part II". The New Found Glory version has been released as a single with a music video. A cover of the song was put in the game Karaoke Revolution.
