It was originally settled in the 1860s. Many original and distinctive Queenslander homes can be found in the suburb. Houses are frequently built on stumps, owing to the steep nature of their blocks.Geography
Rosalie is an inner western locality located in Paddington. It lies in a valley in the foothills of Mount Coot-tha and is predominantly residential, with many Queenslander-style homes.

Prior to 1925 the suburb was administered by the Ithaca Town Council. In that year the Council was amalgamated with 24 other councils to form the
Brisbane City Council . Until December 1968 electrictram s initially operated by theBrisbane Tramways Company and later theBrisbane City Council operated along all four main thoroughfares in the suburb. A tram depot (garage) was located on La Trobe Terrace between 1915 and 1962, when it was destroyed in one of Brisbane's largest fires.References
