Flat Earth Records

Flat Earth Records

Flat Earth Records is an independent punk record label based in Leeds, UK. Started in 1986, Flat Earth has released music which could largely be described as anarcho-punk or hardcore, although the size of the label's catalogue means that this is by no means a complete representation of the 'sound' of the label. As Flat Earth co-founder and principle worker Sned states on the label website:

:"Flat Earth has spoken out about the phoneys, the profit oriented bullshit mongers that intrude into the domain of the hardcore punk counter-culture. Flat Earth's common thread has never been about a particular style of music so please don't pigeon hole... The ideas are what matters"

Notable bands released on Flat Earth Records include Generic, Cress, Dropdead and Los Crudos.

In early 2004 Sned announced that Flat Earth would cease, for the time being, to release new records. Releases from the label, as well as many others from different labels and distributors, and fanzines are still available from the distro that exists as part of the Flat Earth label. In January 2006 Flat Earth issued its first new release for some time - a discography of Pleasant Valley Children, one of Sned's many former bands. The label ceased to release records in 2006, but continues as a record distro.
