June 3 ,1971 ) is aretired Canadianprofessional ice hockey goaltender who is currently a Professional Scout for theWashington Capitals of theNational Hockey League . Prior to joining the Capitals, Fitzsimmons served five seasons as the head coach and Director of Player Development for theECHL 'sSouth Carolina Stingrays , following an additional four seasons as an assistant coach. Fitzsimmons is a two-time Kelly Cup winner, first as a Stingrays player in 1997, and again as an assistant coach in 2001. The Stingrays became the Capitals' AA affiliate in 2004.Drafted in the 11th round (227th overall) by the
Vancouver Canucks in the1991 NHL Entry Draft , Fitzsimmons spent portions of his 6-year professional playing career with theCape Breton Oilers ,Hamilton Canucks ,Rochester Americans , andSyracuse Crunch of theAmerican Hockey League , and with theColumbus Chill and Stingrays of theECHL .
