It opened on6 July 1840 , resited five years later, and remained open until its closure on3 May 1926 , when all passenger services on the line east of Stepney ceased. No trace of the station remains today, as the area has been heavily redeveloped. It was sited on Brunswick Road near the Poplar
shipyard s, which are today occupied by a ventilation shaft for theBlackwall Tunnel and a smallpower station . The station site is now occupied byBlackwall DLR station , and is some distance of east of its namesake,Poplar DLR station .To add to the confusion, there was another station known as Poplar, on the
North London Railway which was to the north-west of this station by the East India Dock Road, on the site of the currentAll Saints DLR station . This was often referred to as Poplar (East India Dock Road) to avoid confusion with the L&BR station.External links
