Dusk... and Her Embrace is Cradle of Filth's second full-length album, and their first for the label Music for Nations. The overall production on this album is similar to their other 1996 release V Empire, being more refined than on The Principle of Evil Made Flesh and the symphonic elements are more integrated into the overall sound, resulting in a more gothic feel to the music. This album would also introduce the vocal styling that would typify future releases, ranging from high pitch rapid fire screams, low pitch spoken word oratory and female vocals/speech. The album is loosely inspired by the writings of Sheridan Le Fanu and many of the songs' lyrics hint at vampirism and paganism, replacing the Satanic elements on the previous two albums, although vampires are not mentioned by name. The cover photography is by renowned photographer and artist Simon Marsden. The album climaxes with a guest speech from Venom's Cronos on the final track, "Haunted Shores". This was the first album that featured the band not wearing corpse paint in the booklet's photos.Track listing
