- Ulster Way
The Ulster Way is a series of walking routes which encircle the Irish province of
Ulster . It was founded in the 1970s by Wilfred Capper [ [http://www.ufrc-online.co.uk/ulster%20waygo.htm Ulster Way and other walks ] ] . The majority of it lies withinNorthern Ireland , the remainder being in theRepublic of Ireland .The route stretches for 560 miles and visits many places of interest including the
Mourne Mountains ,Giant's Causeway ,Cavehill and theSperrins . Most of the paths are clearly sign-posted, with the remainder less clear. It is not unknown for signs to direct walkers intobog s. Generally the walking is moderately easy and accessible.The Ulster Way is currently in the process of being revamped and as a result, some areas are closed to the public for repairs. In other parts where routes cross private land, access is currently being negotiated by the authorities. Signage for the old route is still in place in certain areas with signage for the new route being introduced incrementally.
