Panjwani

Panjwani

Panjwaneey (Panjwan-i) is an ancient South Asianclan hailing from the Sindh and Gujarat regions of the Indian subcontinent, since the year 1744. Panjwani is a common last name of the Sindhis in India and Pakistan. Panjwanis are often purely Sindhi by ethnicity. Panjwani is often anglicized as Punjani.

It is not in fact a name reserved to the Khoja sect of Islam, as is erroneously believed by holders of the name. As with most Sindhi surnames, the origins are Hindu.
