The Texas Derby, or El Capitan Classico, is a soccer rivalry (derby) between Texas's two MLS teams
Houston Dynamo andFC Dallas . The two squads play a season series of games with the winner of the series taking home a Civil War era Mountain Howitzer cannon (named "El Capitán"), which will recognize the best MLS team in the state of Texas during the year. Houston Dynamo clinched the 2006 series with a win onAugust 12 ,2006 and the 2007 series with a win onAugust 19 ,2007 . FC Dallas claimed the 2008 series on the away goals rule, having tied with Dynamo in all three games played that season. On an additional note, FC Dallas has been able to actually fire El Captain after goals scored at their home stadium, Pizza Hut Park. Houston was never able to fire the cannon due to restraints imposed by the lease at Robertson Stadium.Summary of all matches
