History
It was built between 1984 and 1996 with gradual extensions, and replaced several other hospitals such as Tynemouth Infirmary and Preston Hospital. It is affectionately known as Rake Lane Hospital It serves a population of about 250,000 in North Tyneside and Northumberland.
