Citytrain network, branching from the existing Ipswich line after Darra railway station, and extend to the Springfield area. The Ipswich line will be upgraded with a third track between Corinda and Darra to enable higher capacity for the line for Springfield commuter trains and freight services.The planned alignment after Darra (heading outbound from Brisbane) almost mirrors the Centenary Freeway, and an upgrade of the freeway will accompany construction of the railway line.

The planned stations are Richlands and Springfield, with Ellen Grove and Springfield Lakes regarded as future stations. Most services are expected to stop at all stations to Bowen Hills railway station. During weekday peak times, a few services may skip stations to Roma Street for faster travel times for commuters working in the
Brisbane central business district .Passengers for/from the Ipswich and Rosewood line would change at Darra, Tennyson line at Corinda, Beenleigh, Gold Coast and Cleveland lines at Roma Street, and all other lines at Central.
