The total area is 28.95 km².Yonaguni is also the name of the westernmost island of Japan, with three main towns, Yonaguni, Sonai, and Kubura.It is also home to two Ryukyuan writing systems, "Kaida-di" (also used on Ishigaki Island where it is called "Kaida-zi") and "Daahan" (also used on Ishigaki Island where it is called "Yaahan").
