Coir Board of India

Coir Board is a statutory body established by the Government of India under a legislation enacted by the Parliament namely 'Coir Industry Act 1953 (45 of 1953)' for the promotion and development of Coir Industry in India.

It is based in in Ernakulam and Alappuzha. The Head Office of the Coir Board is at Ernakulam and the Reasearh cum Training Office is at Kalavoor, Alappuzha. Coir Industry is one of the traditional industry in India which still at its high. COir Board is having Regional Offices at different parts of India where there is coir industry. Board works for the promotion, research, education and training of the coir industry. The board functions under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises [1].

The Coir Board has worked actively to support the International Year of Natural Fibres 2009.
