- Panchjanya
Panchjanya, meaning five people, is the common name given to five most ancient vedic
kshatriya tribes. It is supposed they are all descendants ofFive Folks and are known by that name for e.g.yadav for descendants of yadu,paurav for descendants ofpuru and so on. Some scholars believe they were different tribes who came as different waves of immigrants.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------"Panchjanya" is also the name of theconch ("Shankha") which was blown by LordKrishna at the start of theKurukshetra War between theKaurava s andPandava s, which was a "Dharam-yudha" (sacred war for the righteous) between theusurper KingDhritrashtra 's hundred sons, the eldest beingDuryodhana , and the five Pandavas (the cousins) supported by Lord Krishna himself.Panchjanya when blown by the Lord Himself symbolised the war was won by the righteous Pandavas. Panchjanya is the "Udghosh", the sound of righteousness to be heard by the people of the world. RSS mouthpiece Panchjanya represented the tolerant society that is the Hindus the original residents of Bharat. Panchjanya is mentioned in the text 15 of the first chapter of Shrimadbhagwad GITA. Panchjanya, the great conch was a token of gift taken from Panchjana, the navigator in which Srikrishna voyaged to rescue Sandipani's son. The name was coined by Krishna in reference to the navigator-
