The station's first broadcast was on
November 7 ,1980 . It was the second television station in the market, behindWABG-TV , which had the market very much to itself since TV 6 went on the air in 1959. Saga purchased WXVT in1998 . Currently, the station's main anchors are Anne Martin and Earl Phelps. Kevan Smith is the station's chief meteorologist and Stephen Robinson is sports director. Earl Phelps serves as news director and Anne Martin as assistant news director. The Delta station has won numerous Mississippi AP awards and its weather coverage during the last four years has received many awards.
