"Songs from Instant Star" is the soundtrack for the first season of the television series "Instant Star". The entire album is sung by Alexz Johnson, who portrays the show's protagonist Jude Harrison. The soundtrack, released via The Orange Record Label, was produced by Dave Ogilvie. Stephen Stohn, who is the executive producer of the show, is also the executive producer of the album.

The album is entirely original, with the exception of a Garbage cover. "Stupid Girl" was originally a single for the band in 1996. Also, the song "Temporary Insanity" was originally performed by the pop/rock group "The Weekend". A number of the songs were co-written by Alexz Johnson herself, often with her brother Brendan. Background vocals are sung by Joel Feeney, Damhnait Doyle, Neil Donnell, Andrea Wasse, Lisa Dalbello, Katie B, and Dave Ogilvie.

A remix version of "Stupid Girl" was posted on the official Orange Record Label website and was later posted onto Imeem in June.
